Mission
New Dutch Connections (NDC) gives refugees and their stories both a literal and figurative stage, reaching the right audience.
The goal is to expand the social and professional networks of refugees, thereby increasing public support for them. NDC values the creation of a caring and empowering community.
Another aim is to foster greater understanding and insight into each other’s worlds and to bridge the gap between these different realities.
Vision
The people you meet in a foreign country shape your future. When rebuilding your life in a new land, having a network is crucial—it’s the key to success. The future will come, no matter where you are.
“Refugee” is just a legal status. Your dreams, ambitions, and experiences define who you truly are.
Approach
Co-creation: Before the “pre-production” phase (developing, working out, and preparing the performance), we involve our target audience, communities, and potential partners to actively participate in the creation of the performance. From this group, we form an initiative group.
Celebration: Each performance is a celebration where everyone feels welcome: the cast, the crew, the co-producing communities, the audience, and the participants. People are seen, heard, and involved. In addition to a “normal” production, these gatherings celebrate talent, diversity, each other, and the visible results that the co-creation phase has worked toward. This is the moment when the fruits of labor are enjoyed. Through this process, New Dutch Connections strengthens communities and invites new people and organizations to become part of it.
Contribution: In the contribution phase, New Dutch Connections assesses the impact of the production on those involved and the audience. We enhance this impact by offering “aftercare” to those involved, conducting evaluations, and striving to establish lasting connections.
Consolidation: From the co-creation phase onward, we communicate our intention to sustain the collaboration. We do not aim to organize one-off events or engage in short-term partnerships.
